NBA writer predicts Warriors will land $40.9 million Pacers star in free agency

Undoubtedly, the Golden State Warriors have enough perimeter weapons to succeed.

However, the Dubs could prioritize upgrading their frontcourt this summer by adding an Indiana Pacers star big man.

“(Myles) Turner’s rim protection would address one of the Warriors’ glaring weaknesses, allowing (Draymond) Green to focus more on switching and perimeter defense.”

“Offensively, Turner’s ability to space the floor would open driving lanes for Curry and Butler, making Golden State even more lethal.”

“His contract demands might be steep, but the fit is so seamless that it could be worth every penny. Adding Turner would transform the Warriors into an elite defensive unit without compromising their offensive firepower.”

According to Bitar’s trade proposal, the Warriors would send Jonathan Kuminga (sign-and-trade), Buddy Hield, and a 2029 first-round pick to the Pacers for Turner.

Many were prepared to give up on the Pacers after their discouraging 9-14 start.

However, Indiana has turned things around since its nine-point loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 4. The Pacers have won 25 of their last 36 games and are positioning themselves to receive a top-five seed in the Western Conference.

Turner, a valuable 6-foot-11 center who can patiently torch defenders in the low post, serve as a dependable long-range threat, and consistently swat layup and dunk attempts at the rim, has played well with the Pacers all season.

The Texas product averages 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per contest, shooting 47.4% from the field and a career-best 40.8% from downtown.

With a versatile big man like Turner potentially joining the Warriors and giving the franchise comfort at the center position, the Dubs could soon move closer to possessing a complete roster.
