NBA star retracts harsh statement about Anthony Edwards following history-making performance against 76ers

Anthony Edwards became the youngest and just the fifth player in NBA history to make at least 300 3-pointers in a season during the Minnesota Timberwolves 114-109 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

CJ McCollum once said Edwards “better work on that jumper,” but McCollum retracted that statement following the 23-year-old’s history-making performance.

“He did more than just learn how to shoot too,” McCollum wrote in a quote response to a post featuring McCollum’s old comments. “Respect 🫡 to a 🐈. He really got a jumper now too. Well done 🐜 man.”

Edwards is still at his best when he’s driving to the rim, which also opens up his teammates to light it up from deep. However, it’s unrealistic to expect him to attack the basket each possession, so having an elite three-point shot for Edwards to go to definitely helps him put up points at a high rate while keeping his legs as fresh as possible.

The Georgia product is on an incredible run since entering the league, as he helped the Timberwolves reach to the Western Conference Finals at just 22 years old.

Edwards has drawn some comparisons to Michael Jordan due to his bounce and swagger, but of course, he’d have to win multiple championships and MVP awards for him to effectively enter the G.O.A.T. conversation.

Even if Edwards doesn’t ever live up to those lofty expectations, the Timberwolves have a superstar with many great seasons left ahead of him, and he could someday lead the franchise to its first championship if they build the right team around him.
