NBA insider suggests $46 million solution to 76ers’ Quentin Grimes problem

The Philadelphia 76ers have a big decision to make in the coming weeks, and there might be an easy solution.

Over the past couple of months, the NBA offseason has been its usual wild ride. With big trades, draft night surprises and free agency chaos, the league has been in top form.

However, the NBA’s offseason isn’t done yet. While most of the unrestricted free agent market is settled, there is plenty of drama in the restricted free agent sphere.

Among those in the midst of that drama is Quentin Grimes. After breaking out with the 76ers after getting dealt to Philadelphia at the deadline, Grimes is still trying to find the best deal moving forward.

While it first seemed like Philadelphia might not be able to afford to keep him, the slow-moving market puts the 76ers in a great position to bring him back. Recently, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel suggested that the perfect deal for Grimes could be a three-year, $45.7 million deal.

As Siegel pointed out, no team appears interested in supplying Grimes with his desired $20 million per year, and this near-mid-level deal would give both sides a nice runway into the next chapter of the partnership. Siegel’s proposal also features a player option in the third year.

It’s hard to argue with Siegel’s idea, considering that Grimes is would be on a good deal regardless of whether his 21.9 points per game with the Sixers last season was real or a fluke. Along with that, Grimes would have some financial security moving forward and would essentially still have the opportunity to bet on himself without the dangers that come with simply accepting the qualifying offer.
