NBA insider reveals Warriors have shown trade interest in this former All-Star

How can the Golden State Warriors improve their roster? It seems like Golden State is dead set on bringing in more talent around Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler next season to give them the best possible chance at competing for an NBA title. One NBA insider just confirmed a Warriors trade rumor that the team is showing interest in one former All-Star.

NBA insider Rob Murrows reported Tuesday that the Warriors are one of the teams showing interest in Kristaps Porziņģis on the trade market.

“According to a source, the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans are also showing interest in Kristaps Porzingis. Teams are taking his injury history into account.”

Porziņģis has the opportunity to be a home run trade pickup for the Warriors. They need size, rebounding, rim protection, and more shooting. At his best, Porziņģis is all of that and more.

The Warriors would be taking on a bit of risk if they did make a Porziņģis trade. First of all, Porziņģis dealt with some sort of illness last season that kept him out of chunks of the year and playoffs. It is still unclear if that illness is lingering or cured.

Additionally, Porziņģis has a long history of injury issues in his career. Since his second season in the league, he has only played more than 57 games once.

The Warriors need a big man they can rely on. Porziņģis hasn’t shown over the last few seasons that he can be that guy.

So, although the fit is certainly intriguing, if the Warriors have to give up any significant assets to get him, they should hold off on a potential Porziņģis-Warriors trade.
