The Milwaukee Bucks have been in one of the most interesting situations in the league, and that likely won’t change any time soon.
Over the past several months, there have been seemingly non-stop rumors about what Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future might hold. Of course, those rumors came as a result of the Bucks losing in the first round for the third-straight year as Antetokounmpo’s co-star Damian Lillard tore his Achilles.
Milwaukee did its best to ensure Antetokounmpo he was still in the right spot, signing Myles Turner and waiving and stretching Lillard in the process. With Thanasis Antetokounmpo recently signing with the squad, the two-time MVP is set to at least begin next season in Milwaukee.
Giannis Antetokounmpo: Bucks lifer?
In a recent article from Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes predicting every team’s top player in three years, he chose Antetokounmpo for the Bucks. Considering all of the uncertainty around Antetokounmpo’s situation, that is certainly a bold pick.
With Antetokounmpo having spent his entire career in Milwaukee, and the Bucks’ consistent attempts to surround him with championship-level talent, it probably isn’t too far-fetched to say he will be a Buck for a while longer.
However, Hughes’ other reasoning was that there really isn’t any obvious choice if Antetokounmpo departs, almost making him the default choice. Hughes said that if he were to put any money on it, he would pick Antetokounmpo to be elsewhere in three years, but the chances of him staying in Milwaukee are high enough that his inclusion on the list is worthwhile.
