The New York Knicks have had one of the most interesting offseasons in the league.
After firing Tom Thibodeau, the team spent the next few weeks trying to pry other head coaches away from their current teams before settling on Mike Brown. While that wild coaching search has certainly dominated the Knicks’ offseason, they have still made some solid roster moves, signing Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele most notably.
Still, as the 2025-26 season slowly approaches, the Knicks have another decision to make. With the space to add another coveted free agent, New York needs to decide which player to target over these next few weeks.
While the Knicks are already a quite complete team, it can’t hurt to add some more quality depth, which was showcased in the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. Although the Pacers are likely out of contention next season, any Knicks’ trip to the NBA Finals could see them having to match the Thunder’s depth, so adding a former All-Star like Ben Simmons could be the perfect match.
In a recent article from CBS Sports, Sam Quinn also agrees with that idea, tabbing the Knicks as Simmons’ best fit in free agency. After a solid half-season stint with the LA Clippers, the three-time All-Star is looking for his next home.
Considering the Knicks have solid talent throughout the roster, adding a guy who can effectively play every position is a true luxury. With plenty of different lineups for Simmons to be used in, the Knicks simply make sense as the former No. 1 pick’s landing spot.
