NBA analyst proposes trade that would send Cavs’ Jarrett Allen back to Nets for Cam Johnson

The 18-19 Brooklyn Nets were one of the more fun young teams to watch in the NBA.

D’Angelo Russell was named an all-star, Caris Levert looked like a star in the making, Jarrett Allen was one of the league’s premier shot blockers and the vibes were immaculate on the Nets’ bench.

One year later, they broke it all up to bring in KD and Kyrie Irving to form a superteam.

Almost six years later, we could see one loved player from that 18-19 team back in Brooklyn for the first time since the 20-21 season.

How can this trade happen?

The Cavaliers were a team rumored a few months ago to go after Cam Johnson in a trade, but ultimately decided to part ways with Caris Levert to pickup De’Andre Hunter from the Hawks.

The Cavs struggled against the Pacers in the second round this postseason and failed to match the energy they showed in their historic start to the season.

With Evan Mobley continuing to make strides each year, the Cavs could look to have him be the franchise’s new center and go away from the double big starting five.

Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report was the analyst who proposed a potential swap between Jarrett Allen and Cam Johnson.

Trading away Allen would bring in another talented all-star level wing to Cleveland and could be the missing piece they need to take the next step and make an ECF appearance next season.

The Nets didn’t have the best luck in this year’s NBA Draft Lottery, falling back a couple of spots in the draft order from where they were projected to land.

They are one of the teams that could go after Giannis Antetokounmpo if he requests a trade, but bringing back Allen could be an option if the hopes of getting Giannis are diminished.
