Lamar Jackson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are embroiled in controversy over who has the right to use the number 8.
Considered two of the greatest to ever don that number (although Alex Ovechkin would like a word), they both have marketing interests in the digit.
A different NASCAR team decided to use this circumstance to poke a little fun at the whole numbers attachment.
RFK Racing posted on social media pictures of two cars, No. 6 and No. 17. They’re driven by Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher.
The caption: “Excited to have Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen numbers on the cars this weekend.”
Those are the NFL numbers of star QBs Mayfield and Allen, for those unaware.

RFK’s social media team captured the right tone here.
While marketing interests are valid, these are also single-digit numbers worn by tons of athletes across sports. Why should one have more right to it than another?
And for those wondering, neither the Mayfield nor Allen cars won the Goodyear 400 at Darlington on Sunday.
That winning honor belonged to Denny Hamlin, who drives the Larry Fitzgerald/Julio Jones No. 11 car.
