Manchester United are expected to make a fresh call on the future of Alejandro Garnacho at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Ruben Amorim executed his plan of not making major squad changes in the January transfer window as he looks to bring in new faces ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Defensive reinforcements were secured via a deal for Ayden Heaven from Arsenal and an eventual €30m ($31.1m) agreement for Danish international Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

Tyrell Malacia has headed out on loan to PSV Eindhoven, to free up space for Dorgu, but the only eye-catching exit from Old Trafford was Marcus Rashford’s loan to Aston Villa.
Garnacho was tipped to complete a last-minute move to Napoli, with the Serie A leaders looking to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but time ran out on negotiations and the 20-year-old remains in Manchester.
Alejandro Garnacho’s Man United contract, transfer fee, stats
Reports from Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, claimed United and Napoli were deadlocked over a fee for Argentina international, with the Red Devils’ demand of £60-65m ($75-81m) viewed as too high as Napoli aimed for £55m ($68m).
Garnacho remains under contract in Manchester until 2028, but his value has dropped slightly to around £45m ($57m), which could see a renewed summer bid.

In two and half seasons at United, Garnacho has managed just 13 Premier League goals and seven EPL assists, as part of tallies which have persuaded Amorim that he may not have long-term place at Old Trafford.
Why Napoli missed out on Alejandro Garnacho?
The gap between the two clubs in terms of transfer fee was an issue in late talks, but as per an interview with Napoli director Giovanni Manna, it was not the key issue which derailed the deal.
“We made an important bid to Manchester United for Garnacho. We really wanted him,” he said.

“We weren’t able to agree personal terms with Alejandro, he requested an important salary to leave in January, and we must respect our current players.”
Data from Capology indicates Garnacho’s current salary at United total around £2.6m ($3.2m) per year which puts him just above Napoli’s current top earner Romelu Lukaku.
