Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has offered a positive update on defensive back Morice Norris, who suffered a frightening injury on Friday night.
After the game was suspended, Campbell addressed the media and revealed that Norris is breathing, talking, and he’s got some movement.
Campbell added that more tests still need to be done, though.
“He’s breathing, he’s talking… he’s got some movement, and now, they’re running some tests,” Campbell said, per Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News.
The Lions announced that Norris has been transported to a local hospital “for further evaluation.”
“It’s an eye-opener. It’s just an eye-opener. It hits a little different. It puts things in perspective,” Campbell added on Norris’ injury. “Man, it’s a violent game, and we love it, but when something like this happens, the silver lining is the brotherhood.”
Norris suffered the injury early in the fourth quarter and had to be loaded onto a stretcher and taken off the field in an ambulance.
After that, both teams decided to run out the clock, but the league office called the game before the clock hit zero.
Campbell called Falcons head coach Raheem Morris a “class act” for agreeing to forfeit the game.
