Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has revealed that his teammate Reece James is like a football idol to him.
Caicedo was a standout player for the Blues during the recently concluded Premier League season and was aptly named Chelsea’s Player of the Season.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Chelsea regard Caicedo as unsellable ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
However, Caicedo is not the only player who had an impressive season for Chelsea, as the Blues qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season.
Chelsea skipper Reece James also had a good season, as he made some telling contributions during the course of the campaign.
Most notably, he set up Marc Cucurella for the winner against Manchester United in Chelsea’s penultimate game of the Premier League season.
And Caicedo was quick to heap praise on his club captain. He admitted that he has idolised the 25-year-old defender after watching him win the Champions League in the past.
When discussing Blues teammate James, Caicedo told UEFA’s YouTube channel: “I see how he trains, and I see how he plays in games. I also watched him before joining Chelsea. In the UEFA Champions League final, he was fantastic. I think he’s been an idol for many people for a long time – me included.”
Despite his young age, James is one of the most experienced players in the Chelsea squad at the moment. And his best moment in a Chelsea shirt so far has to be winning the Champions League with the Blues in 2021.
During his time at Chelsea, James has had to deal with numerous injuries, but the Chelsea faithful got to see a glimpse of his capabilities towards the end of the season.
From a fan’s point of view, one can only hope that James can continue his good form in the next season.
