Inter Miami have finally end their winless streak with a 4-2 victory over CF Montreal in Major League Soccer on May 28, at Chase Stadium.
Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez each scored a brace to lead the Herons to the win, which was much needed for Inter Miami, given their underwhelming run as of late.
Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano has been on the receiving end of heavy criticism for his squad’s recent struggles, with reports suggesting his potential dismissal.
Now, despite the win against Montreal, MLS expert Taylor Twellman has suggested that Mascherano needs to bring about some changes in his lineup to ensure the Herons have a fighting chance in the league.
What did Taylor Twellman advise Inter Miami boss?
Along with their lack of victories in the recent past, Inter Miami are also struggling to maintain a clean sheet in most of their matches and have conceded 26 goals so far.
While speaking on MLS Wrap-Up on Wednesday, Twellman mentioned (comments via OneFootball) that Mascherano needs to make ‘tactical’ changes to his backline in his starting squad. He also mentioned how it could impact Inter Miami’s chances in the Club World Cup as well.

“If Mascherano changes to three in the back, they’ll make a run at the No. 1 seed in the East. But he’d better do it soon. Otherwise, I think they’re barely going to make the playoffs. I firmly believe that,” he said.
“The Club World Cup could be a real struggle for them, and it could blow up in their face, and then all of the sudden that summer transfer window comes, they might have to really figure it out. I just think Mascherano needs to change the way he’s looking at the tactical setup. It would make them a little bit better defensively,” added Twellman.
Inter Miami will play against Columbus Crew in their upcoming MLS match on May 31, at Chase Stadium, followed by their first Club World Cup clash against Al Ahly on June 14.
