We are coming off a 2-1 card, running our weekly total to 6-6 for MLB prop bets. That means we have two more slates to get our record in the black, with each day offering 15 games to choose from.
Our favorite target on Saturday comes from the Twins-Tigers contest. Minnesota’s start will be running into hot bats in Detroit.
Best MLB Prop Bets on Saturday
There are our favorite MLB prop bets of the day. We recommend using MLB betting bonuses on DraftKings and bet365 to make these wagers.
Ober’s Struggles Continue
Detroit enters play averaging over 5 runs per game this week, slashing .270/.332/.455 along the way. They’ve smacked six home runs and 21 extra-base hits during that stretch and are catching Ober in the midst of his worst stretch of the season.
Ober has coughed up 27 hits, 23 runs and seven homers this month, posting an 8.51 ERA in four starts. He’s allowed at least five runs on three separate occasions and has seen a steep drop in velocity on both his fastball and curveball.
As a result, enemy lineups are eating him up. They’re making hard contact at a 40.3% clip, with a 10.2%-barrel rate. Opposing lineups own a .487 slugging percentage and .811 OPS for the season versus Ober, while his strikeout rate is down over 8% from a season ago.
Schmidt Delivers Again
While we’re down on Ober, we couldn’t be higher on Schmidt as he makes the start for the Yankees. The 29-year-old has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last month, allowing minuscule production to enemy hitters.
We want to back Schmidt today, but unfortunately our options are limited. His earned runs and innings pitched props are juiced out of our price range, leaving us to target him to get a win.
That result pays +100, a gift given New York is -290 on the moneyline. Schmidt has shut out the opposition in four of his past five starts, lasting 6+ innings each time.
He’s averaging just over 3 hits allowed per outing during that stretch and has surrendered only three home runs over his past 55 innings of work. That’s bad news for the Athletics, who rely far too heavily on the long ball to score runs.
The A’s enter play losers of five of their past six games. They’ve been shut out three times during that stretch, averaging only 1.5 runs per contest.
Target Turant Against the Woeful Rockies
No MLB player props card is complete without a bet of some sort against the dismal Rockies. That’s amplified when Antonio Senzatela toes the rubber, as opposing hitters are slashing .352/.400/.530 against him this season.
That’s music to Turant’s ears, who’s 2-for-3 lifetime against Senzatela. Turant enters play riding an 11-game hitting streak, clearing over 1.5 hits, runs and RBI in 10 of those contests. He’s slashing .440/.423/.600 this week, with 11 hits, seven runs scored and seven RBI in 25 at-bats.
