MLB Player Props: Picks and Best Bets for Monday, June 2 Games

We banked another winning week in the MLB Player Props market after a 2-1 card on Sunday. That took our weekly record to 10-6, with multiple plus-money hits to help turn a tidy profit.

Monday marks the start of a new week, and we’ll look to continue our assault on online sportsbooks with another profitable seven days of betting baseball props.

Our first wager for tonight’s abbreviated 8-game slate comes to us from the Twins-Athletics contest, where we’re backing one of our preseason Cy Young Award sleepers in Joe Ryan.

MLB Player Prop Picks for June 2

MLB Player Props Pick #1: Joe Ryan Under 2.5 Earned Runs (-140 at DraftKings)

The Twins righty has been sharp for the bulk of the season and is fresh off a strong month of May. Ryan posted a 1.86 ERA last month, allowing 1 or fewer runs in five of his six starts. The 28-year-old has surrendered less than 2 earned runs in eight of 11 outings overall, and enters play with a top-13 ERA and the third-lowest WHIP.

He’s also top-18 in strikeouts, producing a double-digit K per 9 rate for the third time in five seasons. He’s got an excellent track record against the current Athletics batters, holding them to 3 hits total over 17 at-bats.

The Athletics are coming off a series in Toronto where they showed some life at the dish, but still remain a below league-average scoring team. They’ve dropped 17 of their past 18 games overall, while they’re 9-19 home record is the second worst in baseball, ahead of only the lowly Rockies.

We’re betting Ryan allows fewer than 2.5 earned runs, laying a little extra juice at -140. If you want to get really spicy, you can consider parlaying that prop with Ryan to record a win for a juicy +286 payday.

MLB Player Props Pick #2: Freddie Freeman 2+ Bases (-105 at DraftKings)

For our next MLB betting wager, we’re looking at the Mets-Dodgers contest, which carries a slate high over/under of 9 runs. LA enters play as baseball’s highest scoring team, in large part due to the production of Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman.

We’re targeting the ladder on Monday, as he’s nearly even money to record 2+ bases. Freeman is second in MLB in average and OPS, and has five multi-hit efforts over the last week. That includes three extra-base hits, which isn’t surprising given how hard he’s smacking the ball.

Freeman owns a 46.5% hard hit rate through the first two-plus months of the season, which is his highest mark in four years. He also draws a favorable matchup tonight against New York’s Paul Blackburn, who hasn’t pitched all season.

Blackburn owns a career 4.85 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, and last year surrendered a hard hit rate of 36% to enemy batters. He doesn’t have any history versus this version of the Dodgers lineup, but right-handed pitchers have been punching bags for Freeman all campaign long.

Freeman is currently slashing .400/.473/.696 against righties this season, with 7 of his 9 homeruns coming against them, as well as 22 of his 27 extra-base hits
