MLB Insider provides Dodgers greatest need ahead of trade deadline

The Los Angeles Dodgers have proven this season that you truly can never have too much pitching on a roster.

After winning the World Series last season, the Dodgers found a way to improve their roster further, adding former Cy Young Award Winner Blake Snell and Rōki Sasaki. Injuries have plagued Los Angeles’s rotation this season, with Snell, Sasaki and many others missing time.

However, the Dodgers don’t have any glaring needs for their roster ahead of the trade deadline aside from getting healthy, according to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden.

“The Dodgers are not expected to be active at the trade deadline, if they’re able to get their roster healthy,” Bowden wrote. “Three of their top starting pitchers — Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani and Tyler Glasnow, not to mention Roki Sasaki — are currently rehabbing, trying to work back from injuries. In addition, their lineup doesn’t have any glaring needs, and they have the position player depth to withstand injuries.”

“For now, I didn’t list trade targets for the Dodgers. However, they have endured a rash of pitching injuries, and if they get closer to the deadline and don’t have more of their top pitchers healthy or closer to returning, they could add yet another starter.”

The Dodgers remain one of the best teams in Major League Baseball, despite all of the injury issues that the team has dealt with. Their star-studded offense ranks among the best in the league, leading the league in runs and average. If the Dodgers’ rotation gets healthy, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they win another World Series.
