Mike Trout injury update: Angels outfielder leaves game vs. Mariners with apparent left knee injury

Mike Trout has had a healthy start to the 2025 season, already close to surpassing the number of games that he played in last year. However, the Angels star endured a health scare during Los Angeles’ game on Wednesday.

Trout was pulled from the Angels game against the Mariners after suffering a potential injury while running the bases.  The 33-year-old has had durability issues over the past several years, which includes tearing the meniscus in his left knee last season.

Mike Trout injury update

Trout left Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Mariners after appearing to injure his left knee while running to first base. That was the same knee that forced Trout to miss 133 games in 2024 after tearing his meniscus.

Trout did play the field immediately after, but he was taken out for a pinch hitter during his next at-bat.

After the game, Angels manager Ron Washington said he took Trout out of the game as a precaution after Trout felt some soreness. Trout himself added that he’s already undergone tests and will try to play on Thursday.

The Angels are set to host the Tigers at home in a four-game set beginning Thursday before Los Angeles gets a day off next Monday.

Mike Trout injury history

After beginning his career as a durable player, Trout has dealt with a variety of injuries over the past five seasons. The Angels outfielder has had calf issues, back issues, a broken hamate, and a torn meniscus since 2021, and he played in a career-low 29 games due to his torn meniscus last year.

The Angels are likely to be extremely cautious with Trout to make sure he doesn’t develop a more serious injury.
