Zack Baun was a revelation for the Eagles this year, as the middle linebacker helped transform the defense into the best in the league.
The former Saints draft pick signed with Philadelphia in the offseason, but his presence in the middle of the field made a huge impact throughout the year. Baun had five forced fumbles, 3.5 sacks, and one interception in 16 games for the Eagles in the regular season, but he stepped it up in the playoffs.
Baun led the league with two interceptions in the playoffs, one of which came against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the Eagles’ 40-22 Super Bowl rout.

While many may have been surprised that the linebacker picked off Mahomes, he was not. In fact, Baun called his shot earlier in the game.
Here’s what Baun had to say on the sidelines.

“It’s coming, I’mma get one,” Baun told teammates on the sidelines.
Then, when Baun did intercept Mahomes with 1:54 remaining in the second quarter, the linebacker made sure his teammates knew that he called his shot.
“I told you we were gonna get one,” Baun told linebacker Nick Morrow.
“Imma get one.”

Baun’s interception was one of two that the linebacker had in the postseason, as he also picked off Jordan Love in the wild-card round. In addition to those two picks, Baun forced a fumble and recovered two in the playoffs for Philadelphia.Â
After spending his first four seasons with the Saints, Baun signed a one-year deal with the Eagles but ended up with the best season of his career, earning First Team All-Pro honors. Baun had more sacks and forced fumbles in 2024 than he had in his career entering the season, along with a career-high 151 sacks.
