Messi predicts big things for USA soccer as major tournament nears

Lionel Messi arrived at Inter Miami in July 2023 after spending two seasons with PSG following his emotional departure from Barcelona in 2021.

The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner recently extended his contract with the South Florida club which will be see him through till 2028.

Messi already holds a minority ownership stake in Inter Miami which gives him direct financial interest in the growth and success of Major League Soccer across the United States.

Messi’s world cup vision for America

Lionel Messi believes the moment has finally arrived for soccer to take its rightful place among America’s biggest sports ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

In a recent interview with NBC, when asked if growing soccer in America was more difficult than winning the World Cup the legendary forward gave his honest assessment of the challenge ahead.

“I think the growth of football in the United States is possible and I think the time has come for that,” he said.

“Football will have its biggest opportunity in front of the American public next summer when the World Cup is held in North America”

“I think the United States will be amazing” 

The Rosario native led Argentina to World Cup glory in 2022 and wants to play the next world cup and defend crown on North American soil next summer.
