Nearly 30 years after the character endeared himself to movie audiences, Adam Sandler is set to reprise his role as Happy Gilmore in the sequel, “Happy Gilmore 2.”
Released in 1996, the original quickly rose to acclaim thanks to its success at the box office. In the film, Sandler portrays an aspiring ice hockey player who finds his footing as a one-of-a-kind golfer, with a rather unorthodox approach to the game.
As such, the movie has a cult following among golfers, a fact that contributed to the sequel being greenlit decades later.

MORE HAPPY GILMORE:
Adam Sandler
Sandler is an actor and comedian with decades of experience and several classics to his name.
The title role of Happy Gilmore was the seventh acting role of Sandler’s career. He has since been the lead in many more comedy films in addition to more serious roles in recent years. Sandler’s affinity for sports is no secret and the role of Gilmore was the first of many sports roles he’s taken on.
Among other sports-related titles featuring Sandler are “The Waterboy,” “The Longest Yard,” and “Hustle.”
Julie Bowen
Bowen will reprise her role as Virginia Venit, the public relations professional who later becomes Happy’s love interest.
“Happy Gilmore” was the first major feature film for Bowen. In the time since, her most prominent role was on television, as she was a main character on “Modern Family” for each of the show’s 11 seasons.

Christopher McDonald
McDonald’s portrayal of Shooter McGavin makes him one of the most famous villains in film.
At the time of “Happy Gilmore,” McDonald was well established as an actor, with over a dozen titles under his belt. He’s continued to enjoy a successful acting career in the decades since, with some sports-adjacent roles to his name as well.
McGavin’s popularity reached another level with his inclusion as a character on 2K Sports’ PGA Tour 2K25 video game.

Eminem
Marshall Mathers, or Eminem, is a Grammy Award-winning artist who has also picked up acting credits in his career.
Along with his lead role in “8 Mile,” Eminem won the Academy Award for Best Original Song with “Lose Yourself.” Eminem appeared in the trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2” and, as part of his role, appears to get into an altercation with the title character.
Benny Safdie
Safdie is one-half of the Safdie Brothers, a filmmaking duo that famously worked with Sandler during “Uncut Gems.”
He has recently taken on more acting roles, with his role in “Happy Gilmore 2” bookended by roles in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and “The Odyssey.”
Bad Bunny
Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most popular recording artists, and will bring that popularity to the screen in “Happy Gilmore 2.”
Acting isn’t exactly brand new for Bad Bunny, who has played roles in “F9,” “Bullet Train,” and “Cassandro,” but he could see more screentime in this one, as he will play Happy’s caddie, Oscar.

Ben Stiller
Stiller is another character from the original film who will reprise their role.
The veteran actor was uncredited in the first movie, but he played an orderly in the nursing home who was another antagonist to Happy’s grandmother and, by association, Happy.
Dennis Dugan
Dugan, the director of the original, now joins the cast of the sequel.
He’s a mainstay in Sandler’s films, as he’s been in “Grown Ups 2,” “Jack and Jill,” “Just Go with It,” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry,” among many other titles.
Kevin Nealon
Nealon played Gary Potter in the original and will reprise that role in the sequel.
Like many other actors, Nealon has a longstanding working relationship with Sandler and the two have shared the screen in several other films.
Sunny Sandler
As the name suggests, Sandler is Adam’s daughter. Born in 2008, she will be 16 years old at the time of the “Happy Gilmore 2” release.
Sandler has been in a number of her dad’s films and, fittingly, will play one of Happy’s children in the sequel. She has taken on a few minor roles in her career, but “Happy Gilmore 2” will be another major supporting role for Sunny.

In addition to Eminem, non-golf cameos include Cam’ron, Post Malone, Reggie Bush, Travis Kelce, Ken Jennings, Dan Patrick, Verne Lundquist, Nikki Garcia, Becky Lench, and Boban Marjanovic.
Among golfers confirmed to appear in the movie are Keegan Bradley, Bryson DeChambeau, John Daly, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Nelly Korda, Nancy Lopez, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Jack Nicklaus, Corey Pavin, Xander Schauffele, Paige Spiranac, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Lee Trevino, and Will Zalatoris.
