Mavericks predicted to part ways with Jason Kidd to hire another former Mav as head coach

The Dallas Mavericks have had a tumultuous season, and there might be a few things that need to be changed. One thing in particular is the Mavs might need a new coach.

Fansided’s Mat Rutkowski predicts the Mavs will part ways with their current coach and Mavs alum Jason Kidd, and replace him with another alum in Steve Nash.

“Who knows which members of the Mavericks will remain after this season. That means players, execs, coaches. Anyone could be on their way out, depending on whether someone with power tries to save face or make a decision to hopefully extend their own career…Or just everyone is gone. The Adelsons get super embarrassed, blame everyone but themselves and decide to bring in another former Mavs point guard to distract from their own bad influence and decision-making,” Rutkowski wrote.

Kidd is a little over .500 as a coach, with a record of 359-334. He’s made the playoffs five times in his career, and won a conference title once, with the Mavs last season.

As for Nash, he’s had a much shorter coaching career, but he’s done much more in it. He’s 94-67, and made the playoffs twice in his three years of coaching the Brooklyn Nets.

Nash also had Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving on his Nets, so he’s used to coaching stars, and has had previous experience with Irving.

A coaching change won’t fix all the Mavs’ problems, but it might be a good start. There’s a couple good coaches on the market, but Nash is as good as any.
