Mavericks predicted to land Devin Booker in blockbuster trade involving the No.1 pick

The Dallas Mavericks were fortunate enough to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, allowing them to select Duke star Cooper Flagg.

Mavericks are fresh off a whirlwind season one that involved trading franchise megastar Luka Doncic along with several injuries to key stars like Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis.

In a hypothetical scenario proposed by ESPN’s Andre Snelling, the Mavericks could send the No. 1 overall pick to Phoenix in exchange for Devin Booker.

Dallas Mavericks get: Devin Booker, 2025 first-rounder (No. 29), 2028 first-rounder (least favorable of own, Knicks, and Wizards), 2029 first-round pick swap (least favorable of Cavs, Timberwolves, and Jazz)

Phoenix Suns get 2025 No. 1 pick, Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, Naji Marshall, and Caleb Martin.

While there is no indication that the Suns are actively looking to part ways with Booker, and the Mavericks have made it clear that they are not interested in trading the No. 1 pick, the theoretical trade presents a “win-now” move for Dallas and the potential for rest for the Suns.

The Suns would get the fresh start the team desperately needs by collecting several draft picks from the Dallas Mavericks for Booker, along with acquiring solid veterans like Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, and Caleb Martin.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks will acquire another win-now player to pair with Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving upon his return. The move could give the Mavericks another scorer and playmaker to help propel them toward the championship that General Manager Nico Harrison has been chasing since taking over.
