Mavericks predicted as No. 1 landing spot for Heat All-Star by former Dallas forward

The Dallas Mavericks are thriving, winning 11 of their last 13 games.

However, the franchise could use some help following a 118-104 loss on Dec. 10 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. A team that could very well hinder their chances of reaching the NBA Finals for a second consecutive season. A Miami Heat All-Star could solve the Mavs’ issues and fit in well next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Some may not be convinced, but a former Mavs forward could potentially help sway their opinion. Chandler Parsons believes that Jimmy Butler would be a better fit in Dallas than with the Houston Rockets.

“To me, it’s Dallas,” Parsons said on Run It Back. “You go there, and there’s a pecking order. It’s known; this is Luka’s team and then there’s Kyrie, and then there’s Jimmy Butler. And weaknesses for their team is defense, so I think he can provide them a lot of things, fill a lot of holes that they don’t have quite yet.”

Butler is interested in joining the Mavs, though it seems like his main priority right now is to sign an extension with the Heat, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

The price will be steep for the Mavs if they decide to pursue the six-time All-Star. It could require them to part with Klay Thompson early on in his contract, either Daniel Gafford or P.J. Washington, Naji Marshall, Jaden Hardy, and perhaps a couple of first-round draft picks.

The 35-year-old forward hasn’t proven he can stay healthy either, missing the first round of the playoffs just last season.

If Butler could at least be healthy for the playoffs, he’d give Dallas the 3-and-D specialist who can score the ball at an elite level. He would also give the team an enforcer, which is especially helpful against some of the best wings the league has to offer.
