The Dallas Mavericks have had a wild year, but they might have a perfect cap to their offseason on the horizon.
Over the past several months, the Mavericks have been trying to overcome the drama of the Luka Doncic trade and get ready for next season. With Anthony Davis leading the way, the Mavericks might have a chance to compete in a tough Western Conference.
Alongside Davis, Dallas also has Cooper Flagg and some other notable players looking to keep the team afloat until Kyrie Irving returns from injury. While it won’t be easy for the Mavericks to be among the top contenders in the West, one more move might be able to get them to their desired spot.
A splash to end the offseason
The Mavericks, much like many other teams around the league, have appeared to be done with their offseason for a few weeks. However, that might change after Friday’s news that Malik Beasley is no longer the target of a federal investigation, pushing him to the center of the free agency pool.
As CBS Sports’ Robby Kalland recently wrote, the Mavericks might be a team that should consider getting in on the Beasley sweepstakes. Noting that Dallas doesn’t really have much clear shooting talent beyond Klay Thompson, Beasley could come in and be a great fit on the wing for a Mavericks team that can use all the help it can get.
While the path to getting Beasley might not be the clearest, if he wants to come to Dallas, the Mavericks would be smart to make it happen.
