Mavericks blockbuster trade pitch grabs Austin Reaves from Lakers to replace Kyrie Irving

After the Los Angeles Lakers were helped out by the Dallas Mavericks, the two sides could come together for another deal that would benefit Dallas this time. With Kyrie Irving out for much of the next season, due to an ACL tear, the Mavericks should be looking to make a move for a guard who can run their offense.

Among the potential options is Austin Reaves of the Lakers, who some believe could be available for the right price.

Depending on what the Mavericks would have to give up and what the Lakers got in return, there’s reason to believe a trade could work out.

With the Mavericks having multiple centers, including Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively, the Lakers could view one of them as a potential trade chip in this type of deal.

Bleacher Report recently proposed a trade idea for the Mavericks to land Reaves, naming him the most ambitious trade target on the market for Dallas.

“With Kyrie Irving sidelined by a torn ACL, the Dallas Mavericks need somebody to run the offense. If they aren’t going to trade the No. 1 overall pick and remain committed to building a win-now operation around Anthony Davis, they’re short on the blue-chip assets it’ll take to get a great one.

“Austin Reaves has never been an All-Star, but he’s on the high end of what Dallas could potentially land. Plus, we know the lines of communication between the Mavs and Los Angeles Lakers are wide open,” they wrote.

Reaves is a decent player, but it’s tough to say that he’d be the perfect addition for the Mavericks. The Lakers’ fan favorite isn’t a great defender, and with Nico Harrison’s comments over the past few months, it’s only fair to suggest that he’ll be looking for a defensive upgrade during the offseason.
