Matty Beniers leads Seattle Kraken into fifth NHL season

The Seattle Kraken are entering their fifth NHL season with growing expectations and a schedule that will challenge them early and often. Led by center Matty Beniers, the franchise’s first-ever draft pick, Seattle looks to build momentum at home before navigating one of the league’s most demanding travel slates.

October: home comfort, then the longest road trip

The Kraken open the 2025–26 campaign at Climate Pledge Arena on October 9 against the Anaheim Ducks, followed by a divisional clash with the Vegas Golden Knights two nights later. Those first two games set the tone before Seattle embarks on a six-game road trip, the longest of their season.

The trip spans from October 14 to October 23, featuring stops in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Philadelphia, Washington, and Winnipeg. By the end of October, the Kraken will have traveled over 8,000 miles in 10 days, testing their endurance early.

November: rivalries and key home dates

Seattle returns home in November to face a strong lineup of divisional rivals. The Kraken will host matchups against Vancouver, Calgary, and Los Angeles, all crucial to the Pacific Division standings.

The month also includes a Veterans Day home game on November 11, part of a six-game homestand that will define their early-season rhythm. Fans can also look forward to the annual day-before-Thanksgiving matchup on November 26, always one of the loudest nights at Climate Pledge Arena.

December: holiday hockey at Climate Pledge Arena

The holidays bring a busy and balanced schedule. The Kraken will play home games on December 28 and 29, hosting Philadelphia and Vancouver in back-to-back nights to close out the calendar year.

Seattle’s holiday schedule also includes visits from top Eastern Conference teams and road trips to Colorado and Winnipeg. The final week of December provides fans multiple chances to see the team before the New Year, including a home contest on New Year’s Day to kick off 2026.

January: the busiest month of the season

January stands as the Kraken’s most demanding month, featuring 17 total games, including nine at home. Seattle will enjoy a six-game homestand from January 19–29, giving fans an extended look at the team before the Olympic break approaches.

The stretch includes matchups against contenders from both conferences, including Toronto, Dallas, and defending Stanley Cup champion Florida. The team’s lone 1 p.m. home start of the season comes on January 25 vs. New Jersey, part of an effort to offer more family-friendly game times.

February: A short stretch before Olympic Break

The league pauses in February for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, Italy, marking the NHL’s return to Olympic play. Before the break, Seattle will play a limited set of games, including a few at home that will carry added importance heading into the final months.

March: playoff push and key homestand

The Kraken return from the Olympic break with a busy March schedule that features another six-game homestand from February 28–March 12. During that span, Seattle will host Pacific Division opponents and top Eastern teams as they fight for postseason positioning.

Late March brings another lengthy road trip, March 19–31, matching October’s in distance and difficulty. Those games could determine where Seattle sits in the playoff race heading into April.

April: wrapping up at home

Seattle’s regular season concludes at Climate Pledge Arena, where they’ll play several of their final games in front of home fans. The schedule’s final stretch includes key divisional contests that could decide playoff seeding or wild-card placement.

For a franchise entering just its fifth year, the 2025–26 season carries both excitement and expectation. From home openers to cross-country road swings, the Kraken’s path is set, and it runs straight through the heart of the Pacific Division.
