The Masters is one of the golf’s greatest spectacles, filled with rich history and tradition. One of the most beloved traditions of the tournament is the annual Par 3 contest, which takes place the Wednesday before the first round tees off.
The Par 3 contest is unique because participants include their wives, children, grandchildren and families in on the action. Some of them serve as caddies, whereas other little ones are simply there to enjoy the fun. It’s a light-hearted, family-filled day before the seriousness of the tournament begins on Thursday morning.
The course includes holes surrounding DeSoto Springs Pond and Ike’s Pond at Augusta National. The golfer with the best score after nine holes is declared the winner, and there are typically several hole-in-ones and great shots throughout. Last year’s winner was Rickie Fowler, who shot a 22.
