Mason Greenwood linked with shock return to the Premier League

Mason Greenwood left Manchester United under controversial circumstances back in 2024, and it appeared his time in the Premier League was over forever.

Greenwood had been charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. However, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case after key witnesses withdrew.

The forward was initially sent on loan to Getafe for the 2023/24 season, where he scored eight goals, with six assists in 33 La Liga games.

This led to Greenwood then joining Marseille permanently. He has become a star for the French side. In 40 games, he has found the back of the net 30 times and made 10 assists.

Greenwood’s form has led to interest from some of the top clubs in the world. According to TEAMtalk, “Barcelona lead the chase for Greenwood, with scouts attending his recent masterclass against Le Havre.

“However, sources have stunningly revealed that Tottenham and West Ham are also in the race.”

Would Mason Greenwood be accepted back in the Premier League?

Greenwood has already played in La Liga since the allegations were brought against him, so a move to Barca is possible.

However, there would certainly be greater backlash if Tottenham or West Ham signed the player.

Greenwood has not played for England since his one cap back in 2020 and has not been considered anymore due to his controversies.

On talent alone, he would be a fit for Tottenham, whilst West Ham is desperate to survive relegation this season.

Due to the extremely bad press either side would get if Greenwood were to join them, it appears an unlikely prospect.
