Marlins rookie with 12 MLB games under his belt has career day

It was a night to remember for 24-year-old Jakob Marsee of the Miami Marlins. The left-handed swinging Marsee had a career-high four hits, blasted two home runs, a double, and drove in seven runs on Wednesday night.

All of this was part of a 13-4 win over the Cleveland Guardians.

The Marlins scored four runs in the first inning. After Xavier Edwards got the party started, Marsee hit a three-run home run. That was his second of the season.

Then, after Cleveland tied the game at 4-4, Marsee hit his third of the season in the fifth inning, this time driving in two. This would prove to be the go-ahead RBI of the night.

In the sixth inning, he had his double, where he drove in two more runs.

On the season, he is now batting .436, with three home runs and 13 runs batted in. The Dearborn, Michigan native played his college baseball at Central Michigan. His first career MLB game came on August 1 against the Yankees. He had hit in each of his first three games, and has had at least one hit in 10 of his first 13 games.

Gavin Williams was roughed up for Cleveland in the start. He went three innings, allowed five hits and four runs for Cleveland. The bullpen was not strong either, allowing 12 hits and nine runs the rest of the game.

For the Marlins, Eury Perez picked up the win. He is now 5-3 on the season.
