Agustin Ramirez can really swing the bat.
That’s the only conclusion you can draw from the fact that on Monday night, the Miami Marlins’ young catcher joined Willie McCovey in some incredible MLB history.
Call it the 20-20-10 road club.
Ramirez now has reached 20 singles, 20 extra-base hits and 10 home runs in his career on the road, in just 33 road games.
McCovey is the only player to ever do it faster, having done it in 32 road games back in his debut for the Giants.
This incredible stat, via OptaStats, is a bit specific, sure. But to join a no-doubt slugging Hall of Famer in a hitting and power-based statistic is an incredible feat.

No one quite saw this coming from Ramirez when the Marlins called him up, but it’s clear now that he’s a gifted hitter, especially for hard contact.
Overall, he’s batting .245 with 14 homers and a .770 OPS. If we’re nitpicking, he doesn’t work many walks.
But when he packs this punch with his bat, it’s mostly not a problem.
The Marlins have a long way to go to return to relevance, but it appears they’ve got the catcher that will be there when they do.
