The Seattle Mariners are ready to take on the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS.
It’s the first ALCS appearance for the Mariners in 24 years, and they’re trying to make it to the World Series for the first time ever. And now, they’re hoping the previously injured Bryan Woo can take part.
Woo was officially named to the ALCS roster on Sunday ahead of the evening’s Game 1.
The right-handed pitcher has been out for weeks with a pectoral injury. He hasn’t pitched in a game since Sept. 19.
Woo was an All Star as part of a brilliant season.
The 25-year old right-hander had a 2.94 ERA in the regular season with a 15-7 record.
He was one of the most consistent starters in the sport, almost always going six innings and limiting damage.

In 186.2 innings on the season, Woo struck out 198 and walked just 36.
He likely won’t pitch until the midway point of this series, and it remains to be seen how many innings Woo can last even if he starts.
But the fact that he’s available at all is a great sign for the Mariners. Any Woo is better than no Woo at all.
There had initially been some speculation that the Mariners could start Woo in Game 1 after their starters worked hard in the 15-inning win in ALDS Game 5.
But it’ll be Bryce Miller getting the ball on three days’ rest in Game 1, opposing the Blue Jays’ Kevin Gausman.
