Jorge Polanco is on fire.
And the Seattle Mariners’ switch-hitter is doing it in a way that hasn’t happened in the Pacific Northwest in more than two decades.
Polanco has an extra-base hit in seven consecutive games.
But more specifically, Polanco has a double in five consecutive games.
Per Mariners PR, that’s tied for the longest streak in MLB this season.

It’s also the longest games-with-a-double streak for the Mariners since 2004, when Raúl Ibañez also did it for five games in a row.
Polanco has provided just another example of Seattle being such a deep hitting lineup.
You think of guys like Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena.
But then some nights, it’s Polanco who is the one that beats you.
If he hits another double on Saturday, he’ll extend his streak to a new MLB season-best and he’ll make the Mariners go much deeper into the history books to find such a long double streak.
It’s a bit random, but it’s also really cool.
