Cal Raleigh hasn’t slowed down.
The Seattle Mariners catcher was a solid MLB player entering the 2025 season. Now, he’s a superstar.
Raleigh has slugged 22 home runs with a 1.012 OPS. He even has six stolen bases, and he’s providing his Platinum Glove-level defense behind the plate.
And with those 22 HRs, he’s joined Ken Griffey Jr. to stand alone in history.
Raleigh and Griffey Jr. are the only two players in American League history to hit 22 homers before the start of June, according to MLB Network.
You’re doing something very, very right if you’re joining Junior in some Seattle Mariners history.

The MLB home run leaderboard has changed hands back and forth a ton over the past month.
Entering Sunday, Raleigh’s 22 homers were tied with Shohei Ohtani for the major league lead.
Yankees superstar Aaron Judge is one spot back with 21 homers.
Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber is trying to keep pace, as well, with 19 home runs.
Ohtani and Schwarber both do it as designated hitters. Judge is a solid right fielder. But Raleigh, who DHs occasionally, is the best defensive catcher in baseball.
He’ll have a legitimate MVP case if he keeps this up, and he’s on pace to break Salvador Perez’s single-season HR record for a catcher of 48.
Absolutely magical stuff from the big switch-hitting catcher out of the Pacific Northwest.
