FC Barcelona have taken a major step forward in their pursuit of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, submitting an official offer to take him on loan with an option to buy, as reported by The Athletic.
The 27-year-old England international is said to have already approved the switch, while Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has personally spoken to the player and given the green light for his arrival.
The Forward made his intentions clear to leave Old Trafford at the end of the 2024 after a turbulent period under new manager Ruben Amorim, whose arrival failed to revive Rashford’s form or confidence.
Rashford even endured heavy criticism from media and supporters over the past 18 months due to poor form and was eventually loaned out to Aston Villa in January, who took a calculated risk despite his high wages, which exceeded £325,000 [$435,000] per week.
During his brief stint at Villa Park, Rashford registered four goals and six assists across 17 appearances, rekindling form but a hamstring injury in April ended his season early and kept him out of England’s squad for their upcoming matches against Andorra and Senegal.
Barcelona had initially looked elsewhere but after missing out on Nico Williams and Luis Díaz, they have identified Rashford as their next top target.
As speculation about his next move continues to roll on, the England International gave fans a small peek into what he’s been up to lately.
Rashford teammates react to his post
Rashford shared several photos from a gym session on Instagram, captioned simply as “The lab”, offering fans a look at his fitness routine during this extended break.
Within minutes, the post attracted reactions from across the Premier League, including Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier, and former United teammate Jesse Lingard, who each reacted to the post.
