Maple Leafs linked to 40 point free agent forward

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a team that will look a lot different on the offensive front next season with the loss of Mitch Marner in the forward core. The Leafs have brought in a flurry of forwards on board in an attempt to replace his lost production including Matias Macceli, Nicholas Roy and Dakota Joshua.

The Leafs may not be done making moves adding to the forward group this offseason. According to insider Elliotte Friedman, the Leafs are reportedly interested in the services of Jack Roslovic. Roslovic is the top remaining forward left in free agency, having produced 22 goals and 17 assists for 39 points in 80 games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season.

With a little less than $2 million remaining in cap space available, the Leafs will likely have to make a cap dump type of deal in order to make space for Roslovic in their books.

How would Roslovic help the Leafs?

Roslovic would be another solid middle 6 depth option to add to the Leafs rotation. He would slot in nicely in a potential 3rd line center role with possible linemates including Max Domi, Bobby McMann, Cale Jarnkrok and Matthew Knies among others. Jack could even play with Auston Matthews, due to his past chemistry with him developed with the US National Development Team. Jack would be another fine addition to the collection of pieces the Leafs have up front.

It will be interesting to see where Roslovic lands as the NHL world continues to wait where the desired forward signs for this upcoming season as the summer comes to a close.
