
The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to make a few more moves before the start of the 2025-26 NHL season. Whether the team goes for it all or wants to move on from a few different players remains to be seen. However, if one thing is certain, many believe they won’t look the same as they do now.
According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the organization may be heading in a different direction.

They still have a lot of work to do, and he’s unsure of their timeline, but he expects them to make some moves.
“I definitely think the Maple Leafs have their work to do here, and I don’t know what their timeline is. But nobody expects them not to do things before the puck drops, that’s for sure,” Friedman said on “32 Thoughts.”
The Maple Leafs will ultimately have to decide whether to go all in again or play on the margins. Regardless, that can end in a few different ways. Toronto could look to move on from some of its top players or look to bring in another player to help its current core.
Until everything is finalized, there are certainly questions heading into the year.
They could be a decent team, but on paper, they aren’t exactly great. However, if a few things break their way, it’s possible things could work out as everybody wants them to.
Ultimately, the Maple Leafs have had a few weird years, contending but not winning it all, so that’s something that has to be factored in.
