Maple Leafs’ Easton Cowan plays beyond his age with notable line decision in Toronto

The Toronto Maple Leafs didn’t waste any time.

They started Easton Cowan on Monday in his NHL debut. He got most of his time on the top line alongside Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.

And although the Leafs didn’t win, it was a solid debut for Cowan.

“He looks the part,” Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz told The Canadian Press after the game.

Cowan played 14 minutes and notched three hits.

He certainly looks ready to contribute beyond his years.

How old is Easton Cowan?

Easton Cowan is 20 years old.

The Maple Leafs’ rookie was the 28th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

The Maple Leafs had him play back in the OHL last season for the London Knights, where he won the Memorial Cup.

“It’s pretty crazy,” Cowan told The Canadian Press. “Just shows if you stick with it and work hard, good things will come. Just gonna keep doing that.”

Cowan will seek his first point and first goal the next time he takes the ice.

But it appears in the early going that the Maple Leafs have themselves a good one who will be around for a while.
