Making his pro debut in 1995 at 16, Pacquiao (62-8-2) is a seven-division champion. He has faced and beaten a who’s who of fighters. The Filipino was on a three-fight win streak before losing against Yordenis Ugas for the WBA welterweight title in 2021. It was his retirement fight, but he would compete in exhibition bouts.
The former Senator of the Philippines, now 46, returns to action, looking to return to his former glory. He’s ready to prove to himself and his fans he can.
“I’m confident I’ll win the fight,” Pacquiao told BoxingScene. “But I’m not taking it lightly and not underestimating him. I have to punish myself as I’ve done before in training… I know the fans are excited to watch Manny Pacquiao again.

“I will do my best, and that’s why I’m doing [this] in training, doing all the hard work like I did before in the gym. I’m here to put up a good fight. I won’t let the fans down.”
Barrios (29-2-1) lost against Gervonta Davis and Keith Thurman and has since gone 3-0-1. He beat Yordenis Ugas for interim gold and became full-time champion after Terence Crawford was named “champion in recess.” “El Azteca” fought Abel Ramos to a draw on the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson undercard.
The champion will have the size and age advantage on fight night. However, the 30-year-old is not taking the legend lightly.
“Manny’s still Manny. He’s a legend for a reason,” Barrios told BoxingScene. “I’m preparing as if I’m fighting a prime Manny. It’s my job to go in there and defend my title. I’m expecting one of the best versions of Manny. It’s another step in my career to reach for those big fights – with a name like Manny on my resume.”
