Manchester United are making moves in the transfer market, and this time, their target is one of Sporting CP’s brightest young stars.
According to Sky Sport CH, the Red Devils are preparing a bid for Geovany Quenda, but signing him may not be as easy as they hope.
Man United heats up interest in Quenda
United had a quiet winter transfer window, bringing in just one big-name signing. Patrick Dorgu arrived from Lecce and has fit well into the system under manager Ruben Amorim.
While Dorgu has been useful on both flanks, his natural position is on the left, leaving a gap on the right.
That’s where Quenda comes in. The 17-year-old broke into Sporting’s first team earlier this season under Amorim.
He impressed at right wing-back but has since moved to a more attacking role on the left under new coach Rui Borges. Despite the shift, he continues to shine, racking up nine goal involvements this season.
United have already contacted Quenda’s entourage and are reportedly ready to offer £25 million. The club is confident about their chances, but Sporting may not let him go so easily.

Sporting could demand a bigger fee for Quenda
Quenda is widely regarded as one of the top young talents in Portugal. Amorim himself has praised the youngster, calling him “very talented.” That level of potential means Sporting will want a significant fee to part with him.
The initial £25 million offer might not be enough. Sporting are reportedly holding out for at least £40 million, hoping a bidding war will drive up his price.
If United are serious, they may need to include performance-based add-ons to sweeten the deal.
United are keen to reunite Quenda with Amorim, but they must act fast. Other European giants could enter the race, making this transfer saga one to watch in the coming weeks.
