Manchester City reveal transfer stance on key player amid Galatasaray links

Manchester City have made it clear they want Ederson to stay at the club this summer despite Galatasaray pushing ahead with their plans to sign him.

The Turkish champions are confident they can get a deal done soon, especially with Ederson now entering the final year of his contract, which runs until June 2026.

Sources from Sky Germany [via EPL Index] reported that personal terms were already discussed and ‘verbally agreed’, giving Galatasaray hope that a formal offer could tempt City into accepting.

However, there is a different mood within the club, according to Sky Sports News, and City are yet to receive an official bid from Galatasaray and remain calm about the situation.

While they are aware Ederson could walk away for free next summer, they believe his leadership and experience are worth far more than a quick sale.

In the background, City are watching the market carefully in case the situation changes with Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, who was sold by City in 2023.

The 22-year-old is one possible target for City with a buyback clause allowing Pep Guardiola to re-sign him despite Newcastle United also showing interest in him.

What did Ederson said about his future at Manchester City?

When asked during City’s pre-season tour, Ederson was quick to shut down the growing rumours.

“My future is here,” he said

“My head is here. It stays with City. It gives me everything to go back to the Premier League again and try to win the Champions League as well. My mind is staying in the club.”
