Viktor Gyokeres may have scored goals for fun last season, but things are getting far from cheerful in Lisbon.
The Swedish forward is at the center of a transfer storm and is now reportedly threatening to go on strike after Sporting CP raised the asking price for his departure.
The 27-year-old was believed to have a verbal agreement with Sporting to leave this summer if an offer of around €70 million came in.
But now, reports from Portugal (via Record) claim the club has changed its tune — demanding at least €83 million instead. Unsurprisingly, Gyokeres is not happy.
He’s said to feel “disrespected” and is seriously considering skipping pre-season.
That means he might have already played his last game for Sporting, despite a dream campaign where he scored 54 goals in all competitions.

Where could Gyokeres play next season?
Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the situation. The Red Devils have reportedly already made contact, hoping to reunite Gyokeres with former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim, now part of their coaching setup.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested, but both are reportedly weighing up other targets.
Gyokeres was a goal machine in Portugal last season. He bagged 39 in the league alone and helped Sporting clinch the Primeira Liga title ahead of Benfica on the final day.
He even netted a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League — talk about auditioning for a move.
Despite the links, the striker hasn’t confirmed where he wants to go next. He did drop a cheeky hint, saying, “After living in a hot country, it would be difficult [to return to a colder country].”
Sporting head coach Rui Borges kept things vague when asked about the star forward. “Sporting’s future begins on July 1st. That’s all I can say,” he told reporters.
For now, fans can only guess where Gyokeres will be scoring next season — but one thing’s clear: this transfer saga isn’t cooling down anytime soon.
