Man Utd set to sign striker after ‘deal agreed’ with just one thing remaining

Manchester United look ready to land a new striker this summer, with a deal for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap reportedly almost over the line.

The Red Devils have made their move early, but the final decision now rests with the player himself.

Delap, 22, is one of the rising stars in English football. After scoring 12 goals in the Premier League 2024/25 season, he caught the eye despite Ipswich being relegated.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed — Chelsea are also said to be interested — but it’s United who have moved quickest.

According to reports (via ESPN), United have told Ipswich they’re ready to trigger Delap’s £30 million release clause.

Personal terms have also been discussed with the striker’s camp. Now, they’re just waiting for the green light from Delap to finalize the transfer.

“The outline of personal terms have been agreed,” a source told ESPN. “It’s now up to the player to decide.”

A busy summer transfer window awaits Manchester United

United are clearly not wasting any time. Ruben Amorim is pushing for several signings, with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha close to joining. The Brazilian forward has a £62.5 million clause, and United are ready to meet it.

The club is also keeping an eye on Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Palace’s Eberechi Eze. But adding firepower up front is the top priority — especially with departures looming.

Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, and Jonny Evans are already confirmed exits. Jadon Sancho and Antony are also expected to leave, while Marcus Rashford — just back from a loan spell at Villa — is available for £40 million.

The Red Devils missed out on Champions League and dropped £85 million after losing the Europa League final to Spurs. That’s no small chip off the budget, but United still seem ready to roll the dice this summer.
