Man Utd set to hijack Arsenal transfer target this summer

Viktor Gyokeres might be heading to the red side of Manchester — not the red side of North London, as many expected.

The Swedish striker is now reportedly leaning toward a move to Manchester United after being heavily linked with Arsenal earlier this summer.

Gyokeres, who enjoyed a breakout season at Sporting CP, has become one of the most talked-about names in the market.

Arsenal had been seen as favorites to sign him, but recent developments have flipped the script. With the Gunners focused on other targets and yet to meet Sporting’s asking price, United has stepped back into the race.

According to The Mirror, intermediaries acting on behalf of the player have made contact with United to signal his renewed interest.

The striker reportedly believes United can offer him a leading role — something Arsenal may no longer guarantee.

Sporting is standing firm on their valuation. The Portuguese club wants at least €70 million (£59.6m) to start negotiations.

Arsenal’s reported opening bid of €55 million was turned down, and with Benjamin Sesko still on their radar, Gyokeres seems to be rethinking his next move.

Why Gyokeres could join Man Utd this summer?

Champions League football was once a dealbreaker. But with other options drying up across Europe, Gyokeres is now eyeing the Premier League — even without the big European nights.

He is also said to be frustrated with Sporting. There are reports of a fallout after the club refused to lower their fee, despite previous suggestions they would let him leave. This tension could see him miss the start of preseason.

For United, Gyokeres brings physicality, finishing, and much-needed depth. With Rasmus Højlund still developing, the Swede could be a smart partner — or even lead the line.

And let’s be honest — hijacking an Arsenal target always adds extra spice. Especially when the window’s just heating up.
