Manchester United’s search for a new striker might have just received a major boost. Lille forward Jonathan David has dropped a big hint about where he wants to go next — and yes, Old Trafford is high on his wish list.
The Canadian star, who will leave the French club on a free transfer this summer, has made it clear that he’s looking for more than just a paycheck.
He wants ambition. He wants silverware. And most of all, he wants a club that fits his dreams.
“I want a club with ambition that wants to do something,” David told The Athletic. “Obviously, I would love to fight for titles, to win titles. A team that’s competitive, that has ambition, really, with a good sporting project.”
David has been linked with United, Barcelona, and PSG, but the Premier League looks like his top choice, as per reports via Corriere dello Sport.
And after scoring 109 goals in 232 appearances for Lille, it’s fair to say he’s earned a big move.

Despite this, Manchester United haven’t made a concrete offer yet. The Red Devils recently missed out on Liam Delap and remain unsure about Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
Yet David — who scored the goals that helped Lille win Ligue 1 over PSG in 2021 — seems ready-made for a club in transition.
David knows pressure comes with the badge. Whether it’s at Juve, Napoli, or United, he understands the demands. “There is always pressure anywhere you go,” he said. “You have to win every game.”
Still just 25, David is entering the prime of his career. For United, he could be the calm finisher in the chaos of the Premier League. After all, this is a player who makes goal scoring look like a walk in the park.
Red Devils fans might not want to get their hopes too high just yet — but with David making eyes at Old Trafford, the ball might now be in United’s court.
