Manchester United’s goalkeeper situation has taken another twist. Andre Onana, once signed as the long-term solution between the posts, has completed a season-long loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
As per Fabrizio Romano, the deal is confirmed after all documents were signed, allows the 29-year-old to find regular minutes away from Old Trafford.

Onana’s time at United has been a rollercoaster. He arrived from Inter Milan for nearly £47 million, bringing Champions League pedigree and high expectations.
But mistakes, some costly and very public, quickly put him under the spotlight. From misjudged passes to high-profile errors in Europe, his time in goal has often been a talking point.
Yet, inside the United camp, the view of Onana has been very different from what fans and pundits might think.

The dressing room verdict on Andre Onana
Despite the criticism, many of his teammates have publicly backed him. Captain Bruno Fernandes once said: “We have huge belief in Andre. He knows he made a mistake, he’s a clever guy. We don’t need to tell him.”
Defender Harry Maguire also highlighted the keeper’s resilience: “During a career, you always have spells where you have ups and downs. It is about how you build yourself back in and find that confidence to perform again.”
Young center-back Leny Yoro was equally clear, saying: “Now, Andre, we’re with him, of course, we support him.”
Clearly, the mood in the dressing room has been more supportive than the headlines suggest.
Onana himself admitted the pressure at United was unique. “When I arrived here, I arrived as the best goalkeeper in the world and boom, it went down and you see how difficult football is sometimes. It depends on you if you want to stay down there or if you want to stand up and fight,” he explained last year.
United’s signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens on deadline day changed the picture. With Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton also in the squad, Onana slipped further down the order. A loan move, then, seemed the only way forward.
For now, Onana heads to Turkey, where he will reportedly earn a higher wage and play a leading role for Trabzonspor.
