Manchester United’s summer transfer puzzle has a new headline piece: Antony. The Brazilian winger, once signed for a record fee, now looks closer to the exit than ever.
The question is not whether he will leave, but where he will go.
Reports suggest Real Betis are pushing harder than anyone else. The La Liga side are desperate to bring Antony back after his impressive loan spell last season.
United, however, prefer a permanent deal — and that’s where the standoff begins.
Real Betis waiting on ‘green light’ from Man Utd
According to Fabrizio Romano, Betis are still waiting for approval from Old Trafford. They want another loan, while United reportedly prefer a full sale.

Turkish side Fenerbahce have already shown interest in meeting United’s price tag of around €45 million. Yet Antony is said to have no desire to move to Turkey. His heart is set on Betis, and apparently he is willing to wait for the deal.

Betis know they cannot match a €95 million mistake with a record transfer of their own. Their hope is that United will ease their demands as the window ticks down. Manager Manuel Pellegrini made his stance clear:
“We all know that he was very good here, we want him with us, and Antony wants to return no doubt. But we also need the owner, which is Manchester United, to make a decision.”
For United, the risk is simple. Hold out for a big fee and they may be left with a winger Ruben Amorim no longer trusts. Settle for Betis’ proposal, and they could once again be accused of poor transfer business.
Either way, the Red Devils are stuck between La Liga flair and Premier League finances.
Football fans will know one thing — Antony’s future is no longer in his own feet. It’s in United’s hands, and Betis are just waiting for that final whistle.
