Man United vs. Bournemouth lineups, team news, score prediction: Cunha waiting on Mbeumo link-up

Manchester United and Bournemouth will look to build upon winning starts to their Premier League Summer Series campaigns when they face one another in Chicago on Wednesday night.

United were 2-1 winners over West Ham, showing much-needed signs of improvement from their dismal Premier League campaign last season, when Ruben Amorim’s side limped to a 15th-place finish.

Opposite number Andoni Iraola has seen key defenders Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez depart to Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively, but the Cherries have been in fine pre-season form.

Bournemouth claimed victories over Hibernian and Bristol City before beating Everton 2-1 in their first match in the United States.

Man United vs. Bournemouth predicted lineups, team news

Lisandro Martinez (knee) remains a long-term injury absentee, but United have a relatively clean bill of health, in stark contrast to the dismal situation Amorim oversaw during the second half of last season.

Matheus Cunha made his debut against West Ham and is set to be involved again, although fellow new arrival Bryan Mbeumo will not feature and is set to make his United bow against Everton at the weekend.

Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee could be involved after sitting out the West Ham match. Andre Onana will not play despite returning to training.

Man United predicted lineup (3-4-2-1, right to left): Bayindir (GK) — Yoro, Maguire, Heaven — Dalot, Mainoo, Ugarte, Shaw — Fernandes, Cunha — Hojlund

Injured: Martinez. Onana, Mazraoui (doubt), Zirkzee (doubt)

Alex Scott and Julian Araujo were given extra time off this summer following their international commitments. The duo returned against Everton and could start here.

Philip Billing was superb off the bench last weekend, scoring a brilliant opening goal, and is seemingly riding high on confidence after his loan spell at Napoli in 2024/25 ended with him becoming a Scudetto winner.

Bournemouth predicted lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Petrovic (GK) — Araujo, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Truffert — Billing, Scott, Brooks — Semenyo, Evanilson, Ouattara

Injured: None

Man United vs. Bournemouth score prediction

Bournemouth are unbeaten in their past four matches against United, winning each of their two most recent visits to Old Trafford 3-0. The onus is on Amorim and his players to show there has been progress from those low ebbs.

Predicted score: Man United 2-2 Bournemouth
