Two sputtering Premier League clubs look for any kind of momentum as Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford in a Sunday spotlight match.
The Gunners are second in the Premier League table but have been left in the dust by Liverpool in the title race. Mikel Areta’s team have a game in hand but faced a 13-point deficit at the start of this weekend — a daunting and likely insurmountable mountain at this stage of the season.
Still, there’s lots left to play for as Arsenal hope to get themselves some momentum as they press on in the Champions League and look to secure European qualification for next season.
United, meanwhile, are languishing in the bottom half of the table and have won just one of their past four league games. They drew at Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday despite controlling the early part of the game, and they haven’t been able to make any progress under new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Manchester United are, at the moment, a broken club. There are so many issues with the squad, and practically everything good about the Red Devils right now (chiefly Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo) are injured.
Arsenal may not have a striker at the moment, but they still managed to put seven goals past PSV (thanks to a lot of shoddy goalkeeping), so they should manage enough attacking volume to see out three points.

This number is a lot less palatable than expected, but we’re running with it anyways hoping that the value increases as the game nears and the market gets excited for goals in a game between two big clubs.
Both of these teams have very little in the final third at the moment. Arsenal have all their key attacking players injured, currently playing midfielder Mikel Merino up front as a central striker. United, meanwhile, are without Amad Diallo, leaving all the creative weight on Bruno Fernandes’ shoulders.

With Arsenal lacking attacking options, much of the heavy lifting in the attack has fallen to playmaking star Martin Odegaard.
The Norwegian hasn’t exactly been consistent the last few months with so much responsibility on his shoulders, but nobody has for Arsenal. His role changes game to game, but more often than not, Odegaard is the first and second option for the Gunners in the final third.
This was the case midweek against PSV, where he picked up two goals and an assist on two shots and three chances created. He created another three in the scoreless draw with Nottingham Forest worth almost 0.5 xA, and he put together three shots and four chances created in the defeat to West Ham. If anyone is going to make things happen for Arsenal, it’s Odegaard, who is notably the team’s primary corner taker, where they generate so much danger.
