Man United legend urges Chelsea to sign Cristiano Ronaldo for Club World Cup

After securing Champions League football for next season on the last day of the Premier League season, Chelsea now turn their attention to the UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis on Wednesday.

The game offers the Blues an opportunity to get their hands on some silverware and end their European season on a high. However, Chelsea’s commitments do not end there, as they have the FIFA Club World Cup coming up in June.

This is the first time that the tournament is being held in such an elaborate format and Enzo Maresca’s team would like to get their hands on that piece of silverware as well.

More importantly, every participating club has been allowed to make short-term transfers just for the tournament and former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke had a word of advice for the Blues.

Chelsea have struggled all season in front of goal and lacked a clinical striker who can put away the chances they create and Yorke has suggested a possible solution.

Yorke has urged Chelsea to sign Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for the tournament to address their woes in front of goal.

What Yorke said about Chelsea signing Ronaldo?

While speaking to gamblingindustrynews.com, Yorke said, “Yeah, why would you not? He can still do it. With his ambition and ability, if Chelsea are playing the way that they can and creating for him, he’s still an incredible forward. I see no reason not to.:

“He’s better than what Chelsea have currently got up front there. I can tell you that they’re not the greatest team in that number nine position. So I could see why he’s linked to that move. I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t take a punt on it, but it’s just a no-brainer.”
