Man City’s bold Donnarumma transfer approach sparks Premier League goalkeeper battle

Manchester City have reportedly stepped into the race for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, setting up what could be one of the summer’s most talked-about transfer duels.

The Italian star, only 26, is being linked with a move away from the French capital as tensions grow between him and the club.

Adding to the intrigue, Manchester United are also apparently keeping a close eye on Donnarumma’s situation.

With Andre Onana’s form under scrutiny, Old Trafford could soon be in the market for a change between the posts. It’s shaping up like a derby before the season even starts — but this time, the battle is for gloves, not goals.

Man City sets transfer condition to sign Donnarumma

For Pep Guardiola’s side, the move comes with conditions. City are open to making a bid, but only if their current No.1, Ederson, leaves.

The Brazilian has been linked with a switch to Galatasaray, and his exit could open the door for a new shot-stopper at the Etihad.

Sources (via Fabrizio Romano) suggest PSG want around €50 million for Donnarumma, though his contract runs down in just a year.

City reportedly view that price as high, but they have not ruled out negotiations. What could make the deal even trickier is Donnarumma’s wage demand — said to be over £400,000 per week.

That’s the kind of figure that makes even oil-rich clubs double-check their calculators.

PSG have already left him out of their Super Cup squad, a move many see as a clear signal of a summer exit. Bayern Munich are also lurking, with an eye on life after Manuel Neuer, while Inter Milan have spoken to his camp without any major breakthrough.

City, meanwhile, have already brought James Trafford back from Burnley for £27 million, but adding Donnarumma would send a loud message — not just to rivals, but to anyone doubting on City’s goals this season.

The gloves are off in this transfer race, and with both Manchester clubs circling, this could go right down to the deadline.
