Manchester City’s inconsistency continued at Wembley Stadium on May 17 as they lost out to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
City have fallen short in the Premier League title race, alongside early eliminations in the EFL Cup and UEFA Champions League. They currently sixth in the EPL table with 65 points and two matches remaining.
With their final chance of silverware now extinguished, Pep Guardiola’s squad are fighting for a top-five finish to ensure a UCL spot for next season.
City have battled against injury issues throughout 2024/25 with some key players out of action for the majority of the season. With their decline in form, many fans are anticipating major changes at the Etihad Stadium in the months ahead.
Speaking after Man City’s loss in the final, Bernardo Silva addressed their underwhelming season, and claimed ‘something has to change next year.’
What did Bernardo Silva say about Man City for next season?
Silva was clear on how City need to turn things around, but refused to share his ‘opinion,’ preferring to leave the decisions to the ‘big bosses.’
“I have my opinion, I’m not going to give it to you. It’s for the big bosses to decide. But definitely something needs to change when you don’t perform at this level,” as per quotes from the Manchester Evening News.

When asked if the changes are required, involve the staff, players or the mentality of the squad, Silva indicated it has to be ‘a bit of everything,’ to force a refresh.
“I’d say a bit of everything because I don’t want to say what’s in my opinion. The season was not good for many reasons. It’s a tough season for us. It’s a really, really bad season for us. Something has to change next year.”
Silva and City are return to Premier League action on May 20 against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium and they could need two more wins to end up in the top five this month.
